Date: 2025-11-27 8:00am
Location: NCAR Trailhead
Just want to clarify there are three options for tomorrow, woohoo! 1. Jog/hike with Fred up Bear (Sobo if there is time) - plan for around 2.5 hours 2. Jog/hike with Vanessa up Bear Canyon or some other route off NCAR TH - plan for about 80-90 minutes. Both of these are more like a fast hike uphill and jog downhill 3. Hike only (no running): sounds like this group will also be out about 80-90 minutes. Route TBD, can make it up along the way! We will have coffee, hot cocoa, apple cider, mimosas, light/low-cal egg bake (keeping it light this time for the impending glut of carbs and deliciousness on Thursday!), and some other fun goodies after we are done. Feel free to join however long you can - the Thanksgiving run get-together is a long-standing BTR tradition :) I will be there and plan to lead a run - conversational pace with regrouping, as always! I'm thinking of an out and back on bear canyon, so people could turn around when they want. I would expect a run to be about 1.5 hours-ish. And Bernie is going to be there for a hiking group. I will have coffee, hot chocolate, and some light snacks at my car, with tables and chairs. Feel free to hang out a bit if you have time or bring a snack to share as well. This run will start at the NCAR Trailhead. As is traditional, the Thanksgiving Happy Hour Run will be a morning affair, leaving the afternoon free for the family gathering with Uncle Ralph and Aunt Gladys, so we can all get caught up on political opinions and Cousin Eli's brush with the law last week. Also traditional is that it's a longer run. This time, we'll go hit Bear & South Boulder Peaks . Our total distance should end up a little under 7 miles, with maybe 3500' elevation gain. That should get us ready for an extra helping of sweet potatoes! NOTE: There will also be a hiking contingent, doing a flat-ish loop (chubby bunny+?) TBD for those who promise to only eat one or two desserts at Thanksgiving dinner later on. We'll start at 8:00am from the NCAR Trailhead, here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/RgyZVGJJTUbyAZtZ8 Afterward, we'll hang for a bit around the picnic tables there to tell stupid jokes and enjoy some mimosas! Bring very warm clothing, and camp chairs so we can all hang awhile. I'll bring mimosas for everyone. If anyone's inclined to bring some tasty goodies to munch on, that would be delightful! I mean hey, ya can catch up with the extended family, hearing about Bobbi-Jo's newfound religious calling, and Grampa's kidney stones, later in the afternoon, after a sweet run up some gnarly-big hills, followed by a mimosa! How better to celebrate Thanksgiving?!

Hi all,
Just want to clarify there are three options for tomorrow, woohoo!
1. Jog/hike with Fred up Bear (Sobo if there is time) - plan for around 2.5
hours
2. Jog/hike with Vanessa up Bear Canyon or some other route off NCAR TH -
plan for about 80-90 minutes. Both of these are more like a fast hike
uphill and jog downhill
3. Hike only (no running): sounds like this group will also be out about
80-90 minutes. Route TBD, can make it up along the way!
We will have coffee, hot cocoa, apple cider, mimosas, light/low-cal egg
bake (keeping it light this time for the impending glut of carbs and
deliciousness on Thursday!), and some other fun goodies after we are done.
Feel free to join however long you can - the Thanksgiving run get-together
is a long-standing BTR tradition :)
